To My Artist Friend
You inspire me
To be inspired again.
Your paintings intrigue
And your titles amuse.
Your prolific creativity
Spurs me
To relocate my lost joy
And reclaim personal absurdity.
I'm still wandering a bit confused,
Shedding old responsibility
Like a much loved, but outworn,
Pair of old shoes.
Your colors, shapes
And playful words
Guide me back
Toward my neglected, sad muse.
Thank you
For keeping the art alive
And reminding me what fun
It is to run barefoot
In the odd recesses
Of the creative mind.
And maybe find
A like-minded friend along the way.
